Databases Related to Media Industries

This database provides information on news broadcasts and allows the user to search for specific pieces of news that were aired. The database contains over forty years of television broadcasts.

2. EBSCOhost's Communication and Mass Media

This database contains articles related to both national and international media, whether it is about U.S. telecommunication providers or what China is developing within their infrastructure.

3. International Encyclopedia of Communication

This database covers topics such as philosophy, medicine, or economics, but it also has a search tab for Communication and Media Studies. There are articles covering media, technology, and how it is being used in other countries in this database.

This database covers almost anything related to media, whether it be news, formats, types, outlets, or media issues. This seems to be the most complete database and covers a wide array of media topics.

5. Film Index

This database includes information on films, actors, and resources.

1. Science Direct

Since this database covers articles related to freedom of the press and internet law within the media, this database also falls under media policy.

2. Policy Archive

This database gives articles on policy regarding broadcast, radio, press, television, film, etc.

3. The Paley Center Seminars

This is a video database covering discussions on media news, such as journalism and film, and its policy.

4. World News Connection

This database connects you to international media news and policy. It is used for monitoring non-U.S. media sources and gathering intelligence.

5. Code of Federal Regulations

This database allows you to search for specific media laws, policies, and regulations. It offers text, PDF's, and summaries of these media laws and policies.

Websites of Media Industry News Pages

1. New York Times - Arts

Under the Arts section of the New York Times, there is news related to film, music, television, theater, and books.

2. BBC

The BBC's site has news on radio, TV, and music.

3. MIN Online

Contains media, publishing, and magazine news.

4. I Want Media

Provides news for internet, media conglomerates, television, computer media, and policy news.

5. Poynter Online

Tends to offer more in the way of who is involved in the media news being presented and how they are affected. Includes journalism, magazines, newspapers, television networks, and most other print medias.
